It is the thing that holds us back from pursuing our dreams.
It is the thing that causes us to *dabble* with our desires rather than going all in.
It is the thing that can lead us to giving up on our dreams all together.
We are talking about The Fear of failure….here’s how to overcome it.
Recognise that you aren’t meant to be FEARLESS, but you do need to be prepared to act in spite of your fears. It’s not that successful and confident women don’t have fears.
The difference is that they don’t allow their fears to hold them back. Rather than waiting to be without fear before you act, recognise that the fear will always exist, especially if stepping into the unknown and the quickest way to neutralise the fear is to act sooner rather than later.
Often, we build our fears up to be far bigger than what they need to be. It takes action sometimes to realise that our biggest fears were totally unfounded.
Get breathing – Fear has a physical impact on your body. When we fear something, our heart will race and our breath will quicken.
Rather than trying to change the fear internally, try and control the physical response to fear.
Do this by focusing on your breath. Take 7 big breathe in through the mouth followed by eleven breathes out through the nose. Do this for thirty seconds and see how it reduces your feelings of fear.
Start re-affirming your success. What you focus on expands and you create more of in your life.
So if you are constantly thinking “this won’t work”, chances are it won’t.
Start programming your mind to believe in your success using positive affirmations such as “I’m a successful entrepreneur” or “I’m amazing at what I do” or “Everything always works in my favour.”
Use visualisation to imagine how you want things to go. Often, we focus on all of the things that could go wrong, which heightens the sense of fear.
Change the narrative by spending some time in the creative visualisation process. Close your eyes and conjure up an image of the best possible outcome.
Try and get as detailed as possible.
What are you wearing? How do you talk? How do you walk into the room? Imagine how you want to show up once you’ve already created the success you want?
Weigh up the fear of change Vs the fear of staying the same.
What is scarier?
Taking action?
Or regret?
In doing this, you may realise that it would be far scarier to stay where you are.
