Hello Ladies!
So this is the second part of the how to transform your money story blogs. So in part one, I gave you a bit of an overview of what your money story is, how your money mindset alter your financial reality and what the steps are to change your money story. So I want to go into some of these steps in more detail for you.
Where I want to start, is what is keeping you stuck financially? So your beliefs create your reality, and this is true also when it comes to money. What you believe about money shapes what you experience in your financial world. So if you believe that is greedy to be rich or it is greedy to be money motivated, you will find yourself constantly self-sabotaging when it comes to making money because there is a part of you that wouldn’t want to be seen as greedy. So how I have seen this play out in our students is that they will self sabotage when it comes to selling themselves. So we work with women who are building a coaching business and a big part of getting paid for clients is selling yourself and we often see women holding themselves back on things like, putting themselves out there or making an announcement on their services and inviting people on discover calls with them, because they are so afraid of selling themselves. A big part of this is linked to this belief that is greedy to be driven by money. Often we hear women say that they feel bad for charging a certain amount for their services and again it is often linked back to this belief that is not a good thing to want more money in your life. So where do these beliefs come from? Because for us to change this belief system around money we first need to bring those negative beliefs to the surface, and a good place to look is what you experienced when you were younger. The majority of our subconscious programming is formed between the ages of 0-7. So at these ages your brain will be very receptive on everything that is going on around you. So the things you hear, see, are shown, and experienced as a child, you are like a sponge and absorb this. What you are shown as a child becomes apart of your belief system. So let’s say you constantly see your parents going out and working hard for their money, that is going to teach you that making money is hard work. Therefore, you will believe this. This will soon become the normal, seeing this over and over again. So it is a good idea to think about what you were taught as a child on a subconscious level. Perhaps look at not just what you were taught by your friends or family but by teachers. Often we have this connection between making money and working hard, and this is reinforced in our school environment, where we are taught that if you want to grow up and get a good job where you are making lots of money you have to work hard now. You have to work hard at this exam, you have to work hard at school, and this is definitely reinforced again when we enter the workforce especially for people who find themselves in the corporate world.
I definitely found this in my experience in working in the cooperate world where I saw people who were at the top of their careers in these leadership roles, but then I also saw the sacrifice they had to make to get there. I saw women who sacrificed times with their families, I saw pre-dominaitly men in those leadership roles because it was like women couldn’t have both. They couldn’t be a leader and spend time with their family. So those patterns show up all through our life and it is therefore no wonder that we have this great deep belief that making money needs to be hard work. A big part of changing your money story is going back into these experiences and identifying what has these experiences led you to believe about money. When you start to peel back the layers what is really going on beneath the surface.
Now what was really interesting when I started to do this work on myself around money is that a lot of my experiences around money were directly linked to my sense of worth. So it wasn’t just my money beliefs that were effecting my finances, it was the beliefs I had about myself and what I was worth. I also see this with a lot of our clients we work with that their self worth is a direct reflection of their net worth. What they are able to bring to their lives financially often is to do with what they believe about themselves. So just as example, a big part of my money experiences was me spending like a women possessed going out and shopping, and when I really started digging into why I was falling into this pattern of behaviour it was to really fill the void and emptiness I felt about myself. So at the time I was in a career that I just didn’t want to be in, I felt really unfulfilled and really lost, but also was angry at myself that I couldn’t figure out what it is I wanted to do. I was also in a relationship that was really knocking my confidence, I had my doubts that he was cheating on me and that again was making me lose my confidence. So there is no coincidence that at this time not only did my self worth feel low, my finances were also very low. So coming onto changing my beliefs, it wasn’t just my beliefs about money I needed to change, it was my beliefs about myself. I needed to work on my own self worth so I could also change my finances. I had to start believing that I was worthy and deserving of more abundance in my life. Not just abundance in terms of money, but I had to believe that I was worth more luck, respect and a better career. When I really started to do that and do this work on myself in this sense of worth, it started to really have this knock on effect on my finances as well. So when it comes to your beliefs, yes you want to identify what do you believe about money but also about yourself and the world around you. Once you have brought those beliefs to the surface, it is then time to do the work to transform those beliefs, replace them with a new set of beliefs that match the money reality you want to create. So what do you need to believe about money in order to have more money in your life in the way you want it. What do you need to do yourself so that you believe you are worthy and deserving of making more money.
And that is actually a great place to start when it comes to belief worth. To change your beliefs, you first want to know what are you changing your beliefs to. So ask yourself who already has that money you desire, what does she believe and what does she believe about money about herself, and the world around her. So you need to believe that you are worthy of huge amounts of financial abundance and believe you are capable of making lots of money. This is the thing, beliefs are often not based upon any sort of fact. For something to be factual it has to be 100% true for 100% of the time for 100% of all people and often the beliefs that we have we perceive them to be a fact when actually they aren’t based upon any concrete evidence. Most of beliefs are just ideas that we have adopted from our parents, society or other people that have raised us. We then take these beliefs as gospel. We allow them to shape our lives and this is a really important step when changing your belief system because to you should start challenging what you believe. Do I actually believe this? Why do I believe this? If other people are experiencing something different to what I believe, is that not possible for me to believe that as well. If my beliefs have simply been adopted from other people can I not start to adopt to the beliefs of people who have created a financially reality that I want to create. So if I can see other people out creating money and it is fun, joyful and easy they must believe that making money is fun, easy and joyful. If they can believe that, can I not adopt that belief and that truth as my belief, rather than take my belief as gospel how can I start challenging my beliefs. Remember what we believe is our choice. We don’t have our beliefs programmed in our minds and are stuck with them. We have a choice over what we can believe. We can choose what we want to believe.
So ask yourself the question. Do I want to choose to believe this? Or do I want to believe something else?
Empower yourself by realising you have a choice over what you believe. Now I am not going to say that it is going to be easy to make the choice to believe something new, especially when it is a belief you have had for many years. Often our beliefs become so much our a truth they often become a part of our identity and that’s where things become a little bit challenging because it is not just about letting go of our beliefs but letting go of part of our identity. So for example, one of my beliefs that I have really worked to change was that making money needs to be hard work and the reason why it was so difficult to challenge that belief is because not only did I believe that making money was hard work but working hard had become a part of my identity. Therefore, to let go of this felt uncomfortable, because it was going to mean letting go of part of my identity. But what is important right now is just to know that you do have a choice. You can choose what you want to believe.
A good little exercise to help you ‘try on’ your new beliefs is by stopping in a checking yourself and saying ‘If I believed this right now, will things look different?’. So maybe you are about to do a task and you say if I believed that making money was really easy how am I going to shown up to this task differently, or ‘if I believed that it was a really good thing to be money motivated how may I show up today differently?’. So start trying on those new beliefs.
Now there are lots of different coaching tools that I love to use with our students to help them with their beliefs and re-wire their minds so that they can adopt a new set of beliefs for themselves, NLP, Meditation, Affirmations, Journalling, Emotional Freedom Technique, these are all great tools to help place your current belief system with new belief system that matches the financial reality that you want to create.
But, let’s move on to energy. So if you remember from my intro we are a magnet to the things we are a vibrational match too. Often we hold onto negative energy which causes us to repel money from coming into our lives. So from my experience, my negative energy money energy was really to do with my debts. So I got myself into a hefty amount of credit card debt and when I started my business I was having so much resentment towards myself. I was so angry at myself because I kept saying ‘this is so annoying because if I hadn’t spent this money on my credit card I would have so much more money to invest now into my business. I did invest into myself and into my business but it meant having to put even more money on credit cards because I didn’t have the money just sat there in my bank account. So I was annoyed at myself and that negative energy in relation to my debts was causing me to act it as an abundance blog. So I needed to release this negative energy.
I now want to give you an example of how this negative energy works. This really helped me understand it a little bit more. So imagine that your energy in it’s purest form, imagine it is this bubble in this bright light energy surrounding you, and when your energy is in it’s purest form that’s when the universe can very easily send you things and can get through this pure white light energy and send you various manifestations. Now let’s imagine now that your energy field is clogged with this negative energy, and on that that bright white bubble you have got these black smudges of dark negative energy and when the universe try’s to send you gifts the dark energy repels the gifts of the universe. That is how it was taught to me and that helped me understand how this negative energy works.
So in order for us to understand to how be more open to receiving more from the universe we need to get rid of these dark clouds on our energy field. This is where energy healing comes into play. Releasing that negative energy. The one thing I found helped me with releasing the negative energy I had with prior debts was forgiving myself for how I reacted around money. So this is something you may need to do actually forgiving yourself or someone else. For example, I had a client I was working with, and she had handed over all of her power and financial power to a man who completely took advantage of her financially and then who left her in a bad financial state and she was angry at herself but also at him. So she had to do a lot of work forgiveness work on herself but also towards him. So forgiveness work for me and many of my clients is very powerful when it comes to our money stories.
But then energy work is also about raising your vibrational frequency as well. So when you let go of any negative energy you are holding onto how do you start to raise your vibrational frequency so it matches the frequency of wealth. I want to talk to you about one powerful thing that you can do, by showing up as if the money was already present. How would you show up today if you were financially already where you wanted to be? Now to do this 24/7, that is going to be a big ask for you, especially if you are new to this energy work. So just to get things started, even for the rest of the day if you can, be really intentional about how you show up if the money was already in your life. So let’s just start with your thoughts. So how you go about your life for the next few hours, be mindful about what you are thinking about, and ask yourself would I be thinking about this if I was already wealthy? Maybe you have already noticed that you spend a lot of your time thinking about that you don’t have enough money. You are thinking from this place of lack, but to align your energy to the version of you that already has the money, how may you be thinking differently. How can you change those thoughts of lack, into thoughts of abundance. So how can you practice gratitude for what you want, as if it was already present in your life. So being thankful for the money you already have as if it is already present.
I think this is a great place to start, by paying attention to what you are thinking about. Do your current thought align with the version of you that already has money? If not, how can you change what you are thinking about to reflect the version of you that already has more money.
Let’s think of a figure you would be excited to see sat in your bank account today, what would you be thinking right now if it was present today? Just focus on your thoughts. Start with your thoughts and then you can start moving into, how would I be acting? What choices would I be making? How would I be feeling? Be intentional. Let’s say your feeling broke, would you be feeling broke if you had the money? Of course not? Allow yourself to feel the feelings of abundance right now. You may be thinking, Dani how do I feel abundant if my physical world is showing me something different? There are really small things we can do and they don’t have to cost money. In fact your imagination is a powerful thing. Can you connect very vividly with the version of you that already has money so much so you can feel those emotions right now.
Something I love to do when I need that boost of my vibrations is I connect with the future version of me that already has the money I want to manifest. Use your imagination to create those emotions. Or those little subtle shifts you can do to your environment. What can you do in your current environment to make it feel more abundant? It could be small like having a scented candle lit, or making sure your home is clean and tidy.
Now in part three I will go into taking inspired action. How to take inspired action towards your money goals, and to also how to actually surrender to the universe so you can start receiving money into your life with ease and flow.
